Each year, the Benalmadena and Arroyo de la Miel Holiday Guide will feature a hidden gem that visitors without knowledge of the towns would find hard to locate. Last year we featured Plaza Ole, which is situated close to 24 hour square.
This year it's the turn of Plaza Espana, which is in the oldest part of Arroyo de la Miel.
Plaza Espana (Fountain Square)
A tiny, authentic Spanish square in the heart of Arroyo de la Miel, containing some lovely bars and restaurants, including the supposedly haunted Fountain Bar. On the edge of the square is the ruins of the original paper mill dating back to the 18th century, which together with iron ore mining and fishing, was the areas main industries. Also known as Fountain Square, although the fountain was removed a few years ago to be replaced by a tap!!!
